Ongoing Challenges
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
For ages 0-6.
Welcome to the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge! This challenge encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he or she enters kindergarten. Simply read, log your books, and earn badges along the way!
Picture Book Challenge
For ages 0-8.
At the New Berlin Public Library, our picture book collection is broken up into 14 categories (neighborhoods) that contain picture books as well as easy non-fiction books. Our Picture Book Challenge allows you to explore the different neighborhoods while also completing a few early literacy activities along the way!
Non-Fiction Challenge
For ages 3-11.
The Youth Services non-fiction section is organized using the Dewey Decimal System. Each Dewey Decimal category is equal to one Beanstack badge. For each category, read two books and tell us about one of the books to earn a badge. When all 15 badges have been earned, you have successfully completed our Youth Services Non-fiction Challenge.
100 Books Before Graduation
For ages 12-18.
Read 100 books before graduating, log your reading in Beanstack, and earn a new set of badges!
